It’s a small world after all, especially in the Roaring Fork Valley
One of the great things about being an event photographer in a small town/valley is photographing kids when they are seniors in high school and then again when their wedding takes place years (sometimes a few years) later…
One case in point is Beau Chicoine. Beau is a 2007 of Glenwood Springs H.S. where he was a star athlete in baseball and football. We took his senior pictures at River Valley Ranch in Carbondale.
His mom Penny found me (I don’t remember who referred her) and we became friends. She and her husband Dan “Chico” Chicoine are long time locals and some of my most favorite clients. 🙂 The wedding took place on August 6, 2010 at the top of Aspen Mountain on the world famous wedding deck with lunch served at the Aspen Mountain Club.
Here is one of my favorite engagement portraits of Beau, Marlyn and their son Jackson at the Four Mile Bed & Breakfast located on the road to Sunlight Mountain Resort…

Here is Penny and baby Jackson on his parents’s big day – a gorgeous day on top of the world.
Chico, Beau and Jackson Chicoine – 3 generations of Chicoines in Glenwood Springs!
Thank God it did not start raining until after the ceremony and family pictures!
Beau and his brother Zach and Brandon and Mrs. Beau Chicoine with storm clouds brewing…
Ahhhh… the rains did come and our bride and groom made a run for it to the Aspen Mountain Club from the wedding deck.
Here is one of our favorites of Beau and Marlyn post rain… Like they say “if you don’t like the weather, wait 15 minutes”. So true…especially on top of Aspen Mountain.

Congratulations to Beau and Marlyn and many thanks to Penny and Chico for having me as their family photographer. I can’t wait for the next family wedding… Zach and Amanda are you ready yet? 🙂 We’ll stay in touch! Cheers, Jackie
Aspen Wedding Photography T Lazy 7 Ranch starring Shelbi and Ben Bauer. Shelbi and Ben tied the knot at the foot of the Maroon Bells, at the T Lazy 7 Ranch tlazy7.com on a perfect Aspen, Colorado fall day. The T Lazy 7 is Aspen’s authentic Western Guest Ranch and is an Aspen favorite for weddings and parties year round and snowmobiling to the Maroon Bells in the winter. The Maroon Bells are the most photographed peaks in all of North America! (according to the T Lazy 7 radio ads) and no matter the season or the weather, the Bells are always awe-inspiring.
September 22, 2012 brought beautiful weather and the quintessential yellow Aspen leaves for all of the wedding guests to enjoy and savor. The day started with Shelbi getting ready at the newly remodeled Annabelle Inn annabelleinn.com on Main Street, Aspen while Ben helped with logistics at the wedding site.
It was an amazing day all the way around and the wedding lived up to everyone’s expectations. Ben’s family came in from Florida and Alabama and Shelbi was raised in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. In fact, her mom Cindy Kenney ([email protected]) of American Family Insurance in Basalt hired me to take Shelbi’s senior pictures back in 2002… Wow, how time flies! Cindy does the insurance for our HOA here in Holland Hills and the business insurance for my husband and myself! She is wonderful and attentive.
The big day was perfectly planned and coordinated by Cheryl Pitout who also did the amazing flowers – Aspen Orchids and Floral …([email protected])
The T Lazy 7 is such a relaxed Aspen venue that makes everyone including the bride feel right at home. Shelbi and Ben did their own wedding planning and looked to their friends to help them pull off a beautiful event all the way around. Smoke Modern BBQ – smokemodernbbq.com catered the event and the country western band – the Adam Ashley Band – drove to Aspen from the eastern slope of Colorado.
Aspen Wedding Photography Snowmass Club starring Megan and Luke on August 4, 2012 under a perfect Colorado blue sky day…. Little did I know what a fabulous bride and groom I had as they live in NYC and I did not meet them in person until the wedding rehearsal. Luke calls Megan a bubble of energy and that is an understatement. The fun and laughter was non-stop even during the ceremony which, by the way, was officiated by Reverend Jill Pidcock, a long time Aspen favorite.
Susan’s Flowers and Gifts in downtown Basalt – susansflowersbasalt.com created the floral bouquets and chandeliers and Becky Johnson of Studio B Beaute did the make up on our beautiful bride – studiobbeaute.com
Megan is escorted by her Dad Jim down the aisle of Alpine Meadow ceremony site at the beautiful and quintessential Colorado Snowmass Club snowmassclub.com
Our aussie groom Luke is a Ph.D. research scientist at the world renowned Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC and is well on this way to becoming a GQ model as he is donating his modeling services to a NYC cancer charity fundraising event in the coming months. The wedding photography was good practice as if he needs any! 🙂
Megan has a Ph.D. in immunology and pathology and works in finance. What a brilliant couple they make!
Reverend Jill Pidcock reverendjillpidcock.com cheered along with the wedding party when it was official!
Halcyon Productions of Basalt, Colorado halcyonproductions.com did the ceremony sound and Phat Daddy band out of Denver provided the R&B and covers that got the party started phatdaddy.biz
Windy Gillespie of Events by Windy.com did the wedding event coordination and ensured that everything was absolutely perfect and it was! Thanks again Windy!
